Museum Archives

Collaboration with the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 - The Project seeks to facilitate the creation of permanent archives in a Canadian public institution such as the Museum in order to document Tibetan immigration to Canada. This includes interviews with individuals from the original groups and a selection of materials and stories documenting Tibetan immigration in the early 1970s.

Interested parties may consult the Museum resources as listed below for instructions on how to submit materials for the museum collection. Please contact the Chyssem Project at chyssem50@gmail.com if you require assistance with your submission.

Short video - Should the Canadian Museum of Immigration have sufficient materials, it will produce a short video about the first wave of Tibetan immigration to Canada.

"We hope that all the Tibetans who have come to Canada have received a warm welcome and that they will find our country a pleasant one in which to live, one which will fulfill their individual aspirations to the fullest extent possible."

- Pierre Elliot Trudeau, August 27, 1971, in a letter addressed to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
